Join ASCM Community Japan for a free online seminar focusing on DDMRP on Tuesday, July 1st, at 18:30 JST.

We welcome Mr. Vigouroux and Mr. Botton of B2Wise as our speakers. Traditional planning methods are being challenged in today's volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) world.

MRP (Materials Requirement Planning), a core function in manufacturing SCM, has been used globally since its basic concepts were proposed in the 1950s. However, the MRP approach, which relies heavily on forecasts and assumes demand is predictable, faces increasing limitations in the face of constant external change. Its design around fixed lead times and dependencies leads to nervousness and inaccurate signals when demand changes.

DDMRP, a methodology proposed by Carol Ptak, a former President and CEO of APICS, and Chad Smith, offers a breakthrough to MRP's limitations. It's a supply chain transformation method that aims to shift from forecast-driven push production to demand-driven pull production. By utilizing strategically placed decoupling points and managing operations based on actual demand signals, DDMRP provides a practical and proven technical starting point for achieving agility and resilience and promoting flow in the supply chain. This approach leads to significant results like reduced inventory, shorter lead times, and improved service levels.

Learn the essence and power of DDMRP for agile SCM transformation and gain insights from the Japanese manufacturing company case study. This is an opportunity not to be missed for supply chain professionals shaping the future of SCM in the VUCA era.
